Eid Mubarak! or Eid Saeed! Blessed Eid. We don't really know what that means except we can go to Bawadi Mall in Al Ain and have a drink at Cafe Nero. Hurray. They kindly gave us free date muffins and chocolates for Eid. Very sweet. We went to try to get some school uniform supplies.
Photos of and from Jebel Hafeet, the mountain near Al Ain. It was a clear day, so we drove to the top. Crazy times. Jam packed, lots of Pakistani men dancing to music, head scarves being waved out of car windows. Lots of Dubai license plates for some reason. Eid holiday.
Charles thinks the mountain is limestone. We learned that Arabia used to be part of Africa, but plate tectonics created the Red Sea. And so the eastern part of Arabia is lower and the western part is higher. We don't know why there are mountains here in Al Ain, but did read somewhere that this all used to be under an ocean. It's hard not to be interested in the geology when there is alot of sand and rock around.
Views of the desert and of Al Ain.
