Since we had a four-day weekend in October, we wanted to go to the East Coast again, but without paying for an expensive hotel. We just drove to the Gulf of Oman and tried to find some sand. Unfortunately, the first place we went was full of garbage, just trash all over and hundreds or thousands of people picnicking and camping. We drove a little on and found an acceptable place. It was great in the water and we brought a little grill to cook kebabs. As the afternoon went on, more Emiratis arrived, and drove their SUVs up and down the beach! There were fast 4x4s on the sand and one group brought a TV and generator with them. We thought we'd better make a move at sundown and found ourselves in a traffic jam that went both ways up and down the coast, for hours. Another lesson - don't go to the sea on Eid weekend. We like our little lessons in life. It was still fun.
